The PSCORE organized democracy-workshop took place for its second time throughout June 25-27 for North Korean Students, but South Korean and foreign students were also among the participants. The workshop was conducted in both English and Korean and was primarily for the purpose of promoting comprehension of democracy among North Koreans.
Also in this year, the Hanns-Seidel Foundation actively participated at the event with a special lecture. Mr. Holger Dörre held a presentation about life and growing up in the former GDR (German Democratic Republic) and the changes after the reunification. Mr. Dörre is currently the managing director of the German company ‘Harting’ and has been a resident in Korea for more than 15 years. However, he grew up and spend the first 20 years of his life in East-Berlin. The German TV station MDR covered Mr. Dörre in a documentary on the topic “We are everywhere” on the occasion of the anniversary of German unification last year. This movie was shown at the event followed by a lively discussion between Mr. Dörre and the students, who were very interested in the life in East-Germany before and after the reunification.
