Public presentations and numerous talks with political and civil society leaders were the focus of the visit of the President of the Parliament of the Free State of Bavaria, Barbara Stamm, and the Vice President of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation, Prof. Ursula Männle, Member of the Bavarian Parliament, in Korea. In Seoul the two high-ranking politicians of CSU, met the Minister for Women and Family Affairs; Paik, and exchanged views on the promotion of women in politics and a policy friendly to families. Also, they met Hee-Jeong Kim, President of the Korean Internet Security Agency, who briefed them about new challenges for South Korea through the internet and also the latest North Korean cyber-attacks on the South. Talking to the German Ambassador to Korea, Dr. Hans-Ulrich Seidt, actual topics of inter-Korean relations and Korean-German relations were discussed. In the South Korean National Assembly President Stamm and Vice President Männle met Kwon Young-Se MP, chairman of the Korean-German friendship group in the National Assembly. In Hanawon, the center for receiving North Korean defectors, Stamm and Männle were impressed by the high standard of the institution.
Gangwon Province is the partner province of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation since 2006 in a project for sustainable development of the border region and since 2007 partner province of the governmental district of Upper Franconia, Bavaria. Therefore, the visit of both politicians also led to Chuncheon, capital of Gangwon Province. Here, they met the outgoing Province governor Jin-Sun Kim and the President of the Research Institute for Gangwon, Dr. Jeong-Ho Kim. Besides political meetings Stamm and Männle also held public lectures at the Korean Institute for Public Administration (KIPA) and the Center for Korean Women and Politics (see article below).
