In May 2010 the representative of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea, Dr. Bernhard Seliger, held political talks in Tokyo. Among the topics were the actual security situation in Northeast Asia and the possibility of energy cooperation through concentrated solar power of desert regions. Among others Dr. Seliger met with the Japan Institute for International Affairs, BirdLife Tokyo, the Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, the Asian Development Bank Institute as well as Sasakawa Peace Foundation. Also, he met the German Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Volker Stanzel, the Secretary-General of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Japan, Manfred Hoffmann and Dr. Detlef Rehn, representative of Germany Trade and Invest. On May 27, 2010, in Tokyo a seminar for 50 Koreans living in Tokyo with South Korean scientists and politicians took place, where discussions focused on the actual situation on the Korean Peninsula as well as the role of the Koreans living in Japan for the relations of both countries.
