The workshop on improving the support system for North Korean defectors was held at Sangrok resort in Cheonan on 21st and 22nd of December. It was organized by the Committee of the five North Korean provinces and invited were office managers of each city and province of the committee. The project manager of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea, Kim Young-soo, gave a special lecture on the topic ‘Social integration after Korean unification- lessons from German Unification’ at the workshop.
About 30 cities or provinces office managers of the committee participated in the workshop and were deeply interested in the German case which might be a model of social integration in the Korean unification process.
The Committee of the five North Korean provinces plays a central role among displaced people whose hometown is in North Korea and will take a substantial role for rebuilding North Korea in a possible future unification process.
