In Seoul a meeting between the representative of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea, Dr. Bernhard Seliger, and German Ambassador Dr. Hans-Ulrich Seidt with the Minister of Public Administration and Security, Lee Dalgon took place, where actual political issues and German-Korean cooperation were discussed. Dr. Seliger handed over a report of a joint research project regarding the development of the inner-Korean border region by Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea together with the Korean Reseach Institute for Human Settlements, a public institute for spatial planning. Also, he gave the Minister the final report report of a study trip of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea with the so-called “Five Provinces of North Korea”, a public exile administration of North Korea, which had been initiated by Minister Lee.
The current policy of „green growth“ in Korea was the focus of the talks. Ambassador Dr. Seidt and Minister Lee agreed that environmental policy needs efficient public administration. Minister Lee saw the field of cooperation in technical environmental protection projects, like in electro-mobility, as very important, as well as ideas for the internalization of external environmental effects and the political support for environmental protection. Representative Dr. Seliger pointed to the current visit of Environmental Minister Lee in Munich on invitation of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation and the so-called Gobitec project of solar-thermal energy as well as model projects of environmental mediation in Cheolwon and Goseong as examples for good cooperation.
Finally, Ambassador Dr. Seidt confirmed the unwavering German support for Korean unification and the unification process.
