  Jeonju Civic Forum

The annual Jeonju Civic Forum was held on November 11th, 2009 in North Jeolla Province. Prof. Lee Sang-Hwi of Chonbuk National University and partner of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation was again the organizer. With the interesting and timely topic on Green Growth in North Jeolla Province he was able to attract more than hundred people to the civic forum.

The key note speech was held by Dr. Bernhard Seliger, representative of Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Korea, on Green Growth in Germany and possible lessons for Korea. Later on, Korean scholars talked about the national and regional strategy on green growth, renewable energies, a better waste and waste water management.

In the afternoon was the opening ceremony for the exhibition “history codes” which has been touring through Korea for more than one year. This exhibition is organized by HSS Korea as well as the Institute for Peace Affairs. The German foundation for the reappraisal of the East German dictatorship is the initiator of a annual art competition regarding various topics around German reunification.

Another special lecture on Green Growth in Germany was held by Dr. Seliger in the evening at Chonbuk National University.
